Our story

What started in 1999 as a scientific research project at Wageningen University and Research in The Netherlands, paved the way for Dr. Tineke Creemers and Dr. Willem Jan Bosma to develop valuable new insights into the effects of honey on wound healing.

They found that the composition of the honey used – the presence of active enzymes and the honey’s acidity (low pH) – was crucial to these effects.

Bfactory was established in 2000 as a provider of medical grade honey wound care products for humans in a clinical setting. These products were registered as medical device for human use and followed the strict requirements necessary for that designation.

The success of these products in hospital, clinic and home settings inspired Dr. Creemers and Dr. Bosma to expand the business to include a veterinary line of products.

Markets & Brands

The first products for medical wound care for humans were introduced under the brand name Revamil® in 2004. This market continues to grow in both diversity of applications and in international distribution.

Vetramil® was then developed for veterinary use, and various adaptations were made to improve the product's ease-of-use for all kinds of large and small pets.

Bees & Beehives

Due to the rapid growth of Bfactory over the years, our small scale production site in the Netherlands quickly became unable to meet our needs for honey. Our search to find the best circumstances and most professional beekeepers led us to our current locations in remote areas of Europe where the bees access our proprietary blend of flora. There are never any pesticides used and in order to ensure the ideal composition our honey is carefully collected at specific times.

Strict quality standards ensure that only the honey with the correct composition and without chemical residues is used for Bfactory products.

Our bee colonies are cared for in the traditional manner by professional beekeepers, with respect for nature and for the health of the bees.
